The Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) recently adopted new regulations pertaining to on-site sewage disposal systems (septic systems). As of Jan 1, 2013, the regulations now require BAT (Best Available Technology) units for all new construction as well as on-going operation and maintenance services and for all BATs in perpetuity.
